Jari Arkko Chair of the IETF

Jari Arkko is the chair of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the standards organisation responsible for core Internet standards. He is also an Expert on Internet Architecture with Ericsson Research in Finland.

At the IETF, Jari has served six years as one of the Internet Area Directors in the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) and one year as a member of the IAB. From March 2013 he is serving as the IETF Chair. Jari has published 38 RFCs, including specifications for Mobile IPv6, EAP-AKA, and Diameter. He is currently most interested in strengthening the security of the Internet for better privacy, Internet governance, management of IANA, and the IETF technical work on key technologies such as HTTP 2.0, TLS 1.3, WebRTC, and Internet of Things. At Ericsson, Jari works in a number of research projects, and in the past, worked on the implementation of routers, VPN software, testing tools, and IPv6. He received his Licentiates degree from Helsinki University of Technology in 1996.
